Mr. li was hurrying to attend a lesson of an Australian teacher when he caught sight of the red light. In Gold Coast there were much fewer passers-by thanShanghai. especially at 1:30 p.m.,when people were busy working.Nobody would have noticed him had he neglected the red light.

However, he waited, and waited for the green light,“There might besomething wrong with the light,”thought he, but anything against he traffic rules was out of the question, for he was a visiting Chinese teacher. Just then came an old Australian gentleman. who felt surprised at the foreigner waiting alone by the road.

“Good afternoon,”he said in Japanese. unexpectedly.“Good afternoon, but sorry I don't know much Japanese, for I am a Chinese,” responded Mr.Li,in English. Obviously astonished, the Australian explained he took it for granted that Mr.Li was from Japan, for Japanese tourists were always in good manners

Mr. Li often tells us students to always remember we're from China, and we Chinese people are always in good manners.
