　　这首歌是从商家云集的写字楼里飞出的歌——它恐怕是惟一一首商人写的歌。1936年，大零售商蒙格玛利·沃德公司的老板要求他的撰稿人罗伯特·麦编一套系列丛书供应圣诞节市场。罗伯特·麦写了一个故事，讲一只受人嘲弄的驯鹿最终被委以重任的经历。这本儿童读物销量几百万册。随后他的妻弟约翰尼·马克提炼了歌词，再配上曲子放光华，所有的驯鹿都嘲笑它，不肯和它一起把雪橇拉。一个有雾的圣诞夜，圣诞老人发了话，鲁道夫的鼻子亮堂堂，今晚为我们带路吧……。1949年，牛仔歌星吉恩·欧迪的演唱使这首歌在国际上走红。歌词大意是：“红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫，它的鼻子真可笑，如果你曾见过它，会说它的红鼻子。
