　　冬日的一天，农夫发现一条冻僵了的蛇。他很可怜它，就把它放在怀里。当他身上的热气把蛇温暖以后，蛇很快苏醒了,露出了残忍的本性，给了农夫致命的伤害。农夫临死之前说：“我竟然去可怜毒蛇，就应该受到这种报应啊。”

　　ONE winter a farmer found a snake stiff and frozen with cold. He had compassion on it, and taking it up, placed it in his bosom. The snake was quickly revived by the warmth, and resuming its natural instincts, bit its benefactor, inflicting on him a mortal wound. "Oh," cried the farmer with his last breath, "I am rightly served for pitying a scoundrel,
