Heinz has adopted Payne's Supastrip tear tape for the secondary packaging of a range of baby food to make it easier for shelf-stackers to open.
Heinz chose to over-wrap the range in a bid to improve the cost-effectiveness of the process of transferring products to shelf as well as reduce packaging waste.
Using the tear tape provides a prominent opening feature for the shelf-stacker and provides a fast and safe way to remove the film.
John Hebblethwaite, Heinz packaging technologist, said: "The combination of over-wrap and Payne Superstrip ensures a comprehensive secondary packaging system that meets retailer demand for reduced waste, cost-effectiveness, speed, convenience and safe opening."
The overwrap is being used on packs of Heinz Baby Rice, Breakfasts and Dinners.
Last week, Heinz launched a 1kg container for its Beanz range that it said keeps the product fresh for five days after opening.
